PUBG Mobile FLASH: Everything We Know So Far (Release Date, Features, Pre-Registration)

PUBG Mobile’s new lightweight app has already been through one major change before even launching — a name change. Here’s a complete, fact-checked breakdown of what PUBG Mobile FLASH actually is, what’s confirmed about its release, and what still remains unannounced.

What Is PUBG Mobile FLASH?

PUBG Mobile FLASH is a lighter version of the main PUBG Mobile game, built for players on devices with limited storage or lower-end hardware. It was originally announced under the name PUBG Mobile LIGHT in mid-August 2026, revealed by PUBG Mobile producer Rick Li during the PUBG Mobile World Cup 2026. On September 24, 2026, PUBG Mobile’s official X account announced the app had been renamed to PUBG Mobile FLASH.

The Google Play listing now carries the tagline “THE ORIGINAL PUBG MOBILE, NOW IN A FLASH,” and is published under Level Infinite, the global games label behind PUBG Mobile.

The Name Change: What Actually Happened

PUBG Mobile described the change as “just a new name” — nothing else about the app, its launch window, or its features has changed because of the rename. Importantly, the announcement confirmed that players who had already pre-registered under the LIGHT name do not need to register again; existing pre-registrations carried over automatically to FLASH.

The rename arrived alongside a separate set of gameplay and system fixes PUBG Mobile rolled out for the main app on September 22–23, 2026, covering issues in Classic Mode and Midnight Hunters — those fixes apply to standard PUBG Mobile and aren’t specific to FLASH itself.

PUBG Mobile FLASH Release Date

PUBG Mobile FLASH is confirmed to launch in November 2026. This window has not changed despite the rename. Level Infinite has not announced an exact date.

Some fan-tracking sites, monitoring App Store listing metadata, have reported November 12, 2026 as a possible release date. This has not been officially confirmed by Level Infinite or PUBG Mobile, and should be treated as an educated guess rather than a fact until an official announcement follows.

Pre-Registration: How to Sign Up

Pre-registration for PUBG Mobile FLASH is open on both the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. The process is unchanged from when the app was called LIGHT:

1. Search “PUBG Mobile FLASH” on Google Play or the App Store.
2. Confirm the listing is published by Level Infinite.
3. Tap Pre-register.
4. If you already pre-registered under the PUBG Mobile LIGHT name, no action is needed — your registration has carried over automatically.

Confirmed Features

Download size: Less than 1GB on Android and less than 2GB on iOS for the initial install.

Starting map: Players begin on Erangel immediately after installation, with no additional mandatory downloads required before the first match.

Modular content: Additional maps, modes, and full lobby features are downloadable in-game as needed, rather than bundled into the initial install. This keeps the app’s footprint small while still giving players access to the broader PUBG Mobile experience over time.

Shared account and cross-play: A single account works across both standard PUBG Mobile and FLASH. Players can log into either app with the same account, keep their existing friends and items, and switch between the two apps at any time. Full cross-play means FLASH and standard PUBG Mobile players can team up and play together in the same matches.

Monetization: Free-to-play, with in-app purchases.

Ongoing updates: Content updates are planned to roll out alongside the main PUBG Mobile app, keeping both versions in sync rather than running on separate update schedules.

Is PUBG Mobile FLASH the Same as the Old PUBG Mobile Lite?

No. This is worth being explicit about, since the naming causes confusion. The original PUBG Mobile Lite was a separate, standalone app that launched in 2019 and was later discontinued. PUBG Mobile FLASH — the app covered in this article — is an entirely new build tied directly to the current PUBG Mobile app, with shared accounts and cross-play. It is not a revival of the old Lite app, and no accounts, stats, or progress carry over from it.

Is There a Beta Version Available Right Now?

A closed beta test has been mentioned as part of FLASH’s rollout, with limited, invite-based access in selected regions. As of now, no official APK has been released for public download. Some third-party websites have begun listing APK files claiming to be PUBG Mobile FLASH — these are not official beta builds and should not be trusted. The safest way to access FLASH, beta or otherwise, is through pre-registration on the official Google Play Store or App Store listings, and by following PUBG Mobile’s official channels for further access details.
